New Refrigerant Laws for Heat Pumps and Air Conditioners
Are you thinking of installing a heat pump or air conditioner in the near future? Ask what refrigerant is being used! The current common refrigerant (R410A) has a high Global Warming Potential so it is bad if it leaks. Starting in January, systems should be using a much lower GWP refrigerant (such as R454B or R32). Companies can still sell the old equipment that has already been manufactured until 2027. It’s good to know what you are buying.
